Europe attractions and car rental offers

5 top attractions in Europe? If you know the Hunchback, you know the cathedral. After Victor Hugo’s 1831 novel ‘The Hunchback of Notre-Dame’, Disney’s plucky ’90s movie brought the wonderfully foreboding Gothic architecture of the historic icon (built between 1163 and 1345) to a whole new generation. Even after the inferno that tore through the roof in April 2019, which millions watched unfold on screens worldwide, the Cathedrale Notre-Dame still stands majestic on the Ile de la Cite. On your next visit, look up at its timeless facade and imagine its future – just how will they rebuild this sacred beast?

For the love of Nature, one should visit Kornati National Park. To be honest, travel to Croatia doesn’t make much sense for tranquility-hunters unless they visit the Kornati Archipelago that is very often dubbed as nautical paradise. About 140 islands make up this National Park where dramatic caverns, cliffs, and caves of the tight-knit isles throw an awful lot of challenges. These islands are mostly made of Karst Limestone and offer excellent opportunities for hiking. Yes, for those tourists who love some real excitement, sailing through the National Park adds a whole new dimension. For those who are not big enthusiasts of ‘sail alone’ opportunity, the National Park offers guided tours from Split, Sibenik, and Zadar.

However you choose to see the Netherlands, you’re guaranteed a great time in one of the friendliest and most liberal cultures in Europe. Be sure to plan your travel itinerary with our list of the top-rated tourist attractions in The Netherlands. Canals are as important a part of Amsterdam’s cityscape as they are to the city of Venice, and some of the most enduring memories for any visitor are the time spent exploring the city’s wonderful waterways. While many of Amsterdam’s best tourist attractions can easily be accessed by boat tour or water taxi – including most of the major museums and art galleries – nothing beats strolling along the smaller, quieter streets that line the waterways. Particularly charming is the Jordaan, a neighborhood built in the early 1600s to house workers and immigrants drawn here for the city’s religious tolerance. Along with its small canal-side houses, look for the neighborhood’s many “hofjes,” the quaint inner courtyards hidden behind the buildings.

Another UNESCO-listed megalithic site, the prehistoric Hagar Qim Temples are on Malta’s south coast in a commanding position on a rocky plateau overlooking the Mediterranean Sea and the Island of Filfla. Dating between 3600 BC to 3200 BC, the ancient site was buried under mounds of earth until its discovery in 1839. The facade, made up of two upright stones supporting one stone lintel, has a striking entrance. The builders of these remarkable prehistoric temples did not use a symmetrical layout of the three chambers. Instead, the chambers and apses connect with one another but not in a uniform plan. Each temple was built as an individual place of worship. The largest megalith of this 5,000-year-old site is more than seven meters long and weighs approximately 20 tons. The little boulders, the size of bowling balls, strewn about the site were used like castors to move the massive megaliths into place. Artifacts found on the site, including the Fat deities, believed to be symbols of fertility, and the nude Venus of Malta, are on display at the National Museum of Archeological in Valletta.
