Best 5 professional wrestling all-time stars? I’m not a big fan of Chris Jericho, but there is no doubt that he is one of this generation’s most convincing and contentious characters. A perfect mix of wrestling talent and mic work, Jericho is consistently entertaining. He is credited as being the first Undisputed WWF Champion, having unified the World Championship and the WWF Championship by defeating The Rock and Stone Cold Steve Austin on the same night in 2001. Surely, he is one of the greatest wrestlers in history.
Kris Statlander went to university to become an athletic trainer, but after a year in school, she left to begin training as a stunt double instead. Thanks to an indie wrestler she met at her university, Kris Statlander joined a local Long Island wrestling promotion. In addition to attending stunt double school, she cut her teeth as a manager for a couple of years, before finally becoming an in-ring wrestler herself. Statlander has stated that her out-of-this-world gimmick was inspired by her love of science rather than science fiction. The galaxy’s greatest alien took as many science classes as she could in high school and even spent her summers studying marine biology.
Wrestling was probably the most popular sport of the ancient Greeks. Young men belonged to palaestras, or wrestling schools, as the focal point of their social life. Illustrations of wrestling on Greek vases and coins are common throughout all periods of ancient Greece, but all that can be told from it is that the style was loose wrestling and that wrestlers, as did all Greek athletes, competed naked. Wrestling was part of the Olympic Games from 776 bce. There were two wrestling championships in these games: a toppling event for the best two of three falls; and the pankration (Latin: pancratium), which combined wrestling and boxing and ended in the submission of one contestant.
There have been many opinions regarding WWE having an off-season. Since the outbreak of this pandemic, several people have opined that WWE should take a break under these circumstances. Despite receiving criticism, WWE has chosen to go on with its weekly shows, and are continuing to record shows from its Performance Center. However, the belief that WWE has never missed airing even one of its weekly shows is wrong. WWE has indeed skipped shows, a long time ago. If you patiently scroll through the list of episodes of RAW on WWE’s official website, you will find that WWE RAW did not air on March 14, August 29, and September 5, in 1994. In what doesn’t sound like a mere coincidence, WCW Monday Nitro released on September 4, 1994. Clever! Read extra details on WWE News.
Often regarded as one of the best professional wrestlers of all time, the 2000s represented the rebirth of HBK following a highly-publicised battle with addiction. Michaels overcame a career-threatening back injury to emerge from his first retirement for a feud with real-life best friend Triple H back in 2002. The HeartBreak Kid went on to enjoy memorable rivalries with Chris Jericho and John Cena while he also reformed D-Generation X. Yet perhaps his most notable contribution of the decade remains his successive WrestleMania match of the year clashes against The Undertaker that led to his second retirement from the ring.
