Michaela Jamelska or the rise of a technology & innovation professional: Our implementation strategy relies not only on the innovative capabilities of the software platform but equally on our valuable front-row experiences and the lessons we’ve learned in the industry,” states Michaela Jamelska. “The world is facing what the World Bank has called the “worst education crisis in a century,” in that younger generations are progressively losing interest in education. What’s more, the education industry is lagging behind other sectors in many aspects of innovation, although education is undoubtedly a key driver for future innovation. The reality of limited technology access for women is a big problem in 2023 says Michaela Jamelska: According to the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), there are still 2.7 billion people who do not have a reliable internet connection, and women are disproportionately affected. The digital divide is a term used to describe the gap between those who have access to technology and those who do not. Unfortunately, this divide disproportionately affects women, particularly those living in low-income communities. This means that many women do not have access to the same resources and opportunities as their male counterparts. As surveyed globally, more than 58% of men have access to internet, compared to less than 48% of women. Many women, including those in Europe and North America, are unable to access services because they are either expensive or severely limited in rural or underserved areas. The difference is much starker in developing countries. In Africa, for example, only 34% of women have access to the internet, compared to 45% of men. The disparity is even wider in the Arab world, with 75% of men having a reliable internet connection and only 65% of women having the same. According to ITU data, only 19% of women in least developed countries used the Internet in 2020, compared to 86% in developed countries in 2019.
Michaela Jamelska about Ai and Gender Equality: It can’t be stressed enough how important it is to innovate within education. It is a driver for a progressive society, but not when it lacks behind. The number of women entering the Stem field is increasing, but it does not mean we are anywhere close to the gender divide in digital skills. According to the World Economic Forum, within the G20 countries, women represent less than 15% of ICT professionals, and this gender and skills gap is getting wider every year. The European Institute for Gender Diversity reports that the gender gap in the AI workforce widens with career length. Women with more than 10 years of work experience in AI represent 12% of all professionals in the industry, compared to 20% of women with 0–2 years’ experience.
Michaela Jamelska regarding the innovative 5G trial to boost business : West of England Mayor Tim Bowles said: “5G has the potential to revolutionise whole industries and economies, creating exciting new jobs and opportunities. I want the West of England to be at the forefront of this revolution. “We have already led one successful trial and I’m thrilled that our plan to demonstrate how a smart and secure port could operate using the Internet of Things has been approved for funding by the Government. Backing innovation and the jobs of the future and bringing new investment to the region by securing a Freeport are key parts of our plan for economic recovery, so this is a big vote of confidence in the West of England.” WECA is leading a consortium of partners on the £5.2m 5G Logistics project – one of nine projects to receive government funding – which includes companies ADVA, Airspan, AttoCore, Bristol Port, Cellnex UK, Gravity, Maritime, Unmanned Life, Bristol City Council, Bristol University and Cardiff University. 5G is the type of cutting-edge technical innovation that the West of England is looking to embrace with its forthcoming Freeport bid.
It’s important not to over-idealize the current reality and use it to submerge the virtual world. Undoubtedly, a huge challenge lies in front of us as a society regarding how to ensure our rights are respected in the digital world. Figuring out which laws apply in digital spaces, data privacy consents, and other human rights-related issues will be complicated. As long as corporations are in charge of providing the Metaverse, commercial interests will be asserted into our virtual lives. To start drafting human rights guidelines and frameworks at the moment, when the Metaverse isn’t fully functional, may be difficult, but in the end, creating a Metaverse isn’t only about the programming. The White House has already started to initiate the AI bill of rights to “clarify the rights and freedoms of individuals using, or subject to, data-driven biometric technologies.”
This past week our team has been everywhere at once from Down Under to Europe. We have been asked to attend high-profile events to showcase our technology, and this speaks to the value of our software, innovation and capacity to execute globally. We enable industries to be fully autonomous through our one of a kind AI for Autonomy-as-a-Service software Platform. It is the uniqueness of our technology that interests companies like Telefonica, Deutsche Telekom, Sprint, Accenture and Governments in the USA, EU, Singapore and South Korea amongst others to look to us for help with important sectors like 4G / 5G Telco-enabled services, Supply Chain / Logistics, Public Safety, Transport and Infrastructure. We are also focused on expanding in Asia, which is why in the past seven days we’ve had numerous business missions with strategic partners and customers and very high-level meetings in Singapore, Australia and with the South Korean Government, which are all vital to our continuing traction.
Michaela Jamelska about the future of Air Mobility in Europe: “GOF 2.0 Integrated Urban Airspace Validation” European project with a consortium of 13 scientific and commercial partners from the drone and aviation industry under the umbrella of SESAR Joint Undertaking. After the first successful phase one in 2019, SESAR GOF U-space has proven that combining expertise and technology can ensure safe flight operations in all types of airspace. Consequently, GOF 2.0 mission is a promising step further for an integrated European urban airspace. Providing the power of its Autonomy-as-a-Service platform, that acts as a system of systems, enabling the decision-making and collaboration of digital information in an accurate, qualitative, relevant and time-precise way.
Ai could eliminate animal testing: Animal testing is still happening on a large scale with over 100 million animals undergoing tests for drug discoveries, diseases, pharmaceutical, or beauty industry purposes. However, new findings are showing that AI models can save the lives of millions of animals and replace the testings with computer vision and accurate datasets. This is one of the very possible alternatives to animal testings for drug discoveries. The emergence of quantum computing will make it possible due to large datasets and computing power. In 2016, Thomas Hartung led some researchers from Johns Hopkins University to successfully develop an artificial intelligence algorithm that determines substance toxicity after comparing it to similar databases and predictions from previously conducted animal testing. Not only we will eradicate cruelty, but the Ai will be able to achieve more precise results.
