Best reasons to explore Turkey in 2025: Renowned as one of the most beautiful buildings in the world, the spellbinding Byzantine glory of the Hagia Sophia Mosque (Aya Sofya) is not only one of the top things to do in Istanbul, but also in Turkey. Built by the Byzantine Emperor Justinian in 537 CE, it is renowned as the Byzantine Empire’s greatest architectural achievement and has remained the world’s largest church for 1,000 years. The staggering bulk of its exterior is rimmed by the delicate minarets added after the Ottoman conquest, while the sumptuous and cavernous frescoed interior is a grand reminder of old Constantinople’s might and power. This famed monument is a must-do for every tourist visiting the country. Highlights: Crane your neck at the Library of Celsus, hike up the cavea of the Great Theater, and stroll amid the ruins of this ancient city Not to be missed, the mighty ruin of Ephesus is a city of colossal monuments and marble-columned roads. One of the most complete, still-standing famed cities of antiquity in the Mediterranean region, this is the place to experience what life must have been like during the golden age of the Roman Empire. The city’s history dates back to the 10th century BCE, but the major monuments you see today all date from its Roman era when it was a thriving commercial center. In particular, the Library of Celsus, the complex of frescoed terraced houses, and the Great Theater all point to the wealth and importance of Ephesus during the Roman period. Exploring other cultures and being a part of them is fun and exciting but coming back to your own culture feels like home. When you’re away from the culture you have been immersed in all your life, you can look at it with fresh new eyes and can understand it in a better way rather than just accepting what you have been told all your life. It’s important to note that Istanbul’s public transportation system remains highly efficient even during rush hours, making it easy to move around the city. Even the longest transportation line, the Marmaray Metro (spanning 80 km), offers tickets for less than a dollar. The fusion of modern technology with reasonable prices in Istanbul’s public transportation system is a fundamental pillar of real estate investment. This combination reinforces the investment potential and creates a more attractive environment for prospective investors. Using public transportation is a delightful experience in Istanbul. For instance, when traveling from the Eminonu or Besiktas areas to the Asian side in Uskudar or Kadikoy, transportation means include ships, which also offer tourists a scenic tour. Notably, Istanbul’s transportation network is not confined to the city center but is continually expanding in all directions. Even in the central areas, there is ongoing development to connect new lines to sub-neighborhoods.
You interact with different people. This is probably my favorite reason to travel abroad. I truly believe that one has so much to learn from people belonging to different nationalities, cultures and religions, and nothing compares to the feeling of establishing friendships across borders.Furthermore, it is wonderful to travel to a certain country and already know someone there who you can visit and who can show you around like a local. You can practice or learn a new language. As a student of languages myself, I am of the opinion that the best method to learn a new language or to speak it authentically is to live among native speakers and use that language on a regular basis. You know what they say about languages – use it or lose it. There is no point whatsoever in studying a language for years without ever using it in real life. Istanbul travel is one of the top reasons to invest in Turkey. The Galata Tower offers beautiful views of the city. It is located just North of the Golden Horn in the Galata Quarter. We stayed in an apartment looking right up at this tower and it was breathtaking. It is 9 stories high with a restaurant cafe and nightclub. You can take tours up to view the city. There’s a great square at the base of the Galata Tower where you can enjoy some Turkish Coffee and Turkish Delight while people watching on the terrace.
