Hunting help and premium hunting ranches in Texas? Overheated bucks may well hang back a little farther into the woods until dark. In that case, you need to push in a bit and set up in staging area off the food source. In many cases, this means setting up fairly tight to a buck’s bedding area (without invading it or spooking the buck), which makes an unobtrusive approach critical. If you’re hunting near a water source, as you should be, use a stream bed as your entry and exit trail or paddle a canoe across a lake or pond instead of bungling in to your stand from the uplands.
Hunt Plan: Sit all day, or for as long as possible, in your best terrain funnels near doe bedding areas or security cover. If you know bucks are visiting a doe feeding area, don’t hesitate to put out a decoy and/or call and rattle aggressively. When deer aren’t on their feet due to hunting pressure or because they’re tending does, take the action to them by still-hunting or organizing a drive. Deer Behavior: Exhausted from the rut and pressured by hunters, bucks focus on eating and staying alive. They generally reduce their movements to a simple bed-to-feed pattern.
This was an amazing adventure for our family of six. I cannot say enough good things about this place. Cabins with private bathrooms are very clean. Food is DELICIOUS. Most of all they are #1 in hospitality. They went above and beyond to make us feel at home and like we were part of their family. Thank you so much for a fabulous adventure. Scott Cronin, Browning Trail Cameras: Be as precise as a surgeon when packing gear. What is essential and what is not? What can stay in your vehicle? What needs to be with you? Weight is always an issue. Be efficient and know where everything is. A pack should be large enough to accommodate at least one layer of clothing. It should carry your nutrition and hydration. It should hold game recovery equipment, as well as the tools you need for your stand setup or your hunting approach. Every day pack should also have a backup battery pack for charging your cellphone—both for the mapping aspect and security/emergency purposes—and a light or headlamp with backup batteries.
